Hi, I'm Allison. The "just eat real food" mantra was the inspiration for my blog because that's my guiding principle about food.

I think that, generally speaking, real food prepared at home with love is better than 99 percent of anything you can pick up in a drive through or make from a box.

I ate a strict paleo diet for two years as I healed my very damaged gut. I spent about 15 years of my life sick with GI issues. I'll spare you the details, but it wasn't fun. After having my gallbladder removed in 2006, I had high hopes that the torture would end. It didn't.

So, I started doing my own research. After discovering the miracle (that's not hyperbole) of probiotics and the paleo way of eating, my life literally changed (that's not hyperbole, either). I'm happier. I'm healthier. And I actually have energy.

Since my gut has healed, I now eat a wide variety of foods without negative side effects. I still cook and eat paleo meals a few times per week, but I can now safely eat things like dairy and grains in moderation also. Read along as I document my culinary adventures.
